Math is not my forté. I'm ok with basic knitting calculations, but when I get to shaping—figuring out how many stitches I need to decrease across how many rows in order to achieve the shape I want—I break into a sweat. And, I know I'm not alone.

Lucky for us, numbers come easily to Amy Herzog, and she wants to help. She has just released a collection of very specific, very handy knitting calculators called Knitter's Toolbox. I downloaded a copy and gave it a try.

Losing a Legacy
The Interweave library represents one of the most complete textiles publishing collections of the past 30 years. On May 8th and 9th, following a corporate move to Fort Collins, the entire collection will be put up for sale. This is your last chance to step inside the historic First National Bank building in downtown Loveland, long home to Interweave, and pluck some legendary titles from the collection. The sale is being coordinated by Cloth Roads (a company founded by several Interweave alums) and you'll find all the details here. The only hitch? You must go to Loveland.

Coming Up
Somewhere between Coachella and Woodstock is the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, one of the most attended, most respected, and most exciting shows of the year. It takes place this weekend at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, Maryland—and if you are anywhere remotely nearby, I urge you to pay the show a visit. Next weekend, festival season continues with the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Festival at the Deerfield Fairgrounds in Deerfield, New Hampshire. Across the pond in West Yorkshire, England, 16 exhibitors are gathering on Saturday May 9th at the Otley Courthouse for the Wharfe Wool Fair, which will also feature workshops and demonstrations.
