August 1, 2013 No matter where I go, I always seek out the nearest local yarn shop when I travel—and I suspect you do too. Some shops are smack dab in the center of tourist hubs, others take you off the beaten path and into cozy neighborhoods where you begin to get a real feeling for the place. And so it was that, during a family trip to Paris last week, I found myself wandering a neighborhood I'd never explored before, Butte-aux-Cailles. Up a steep hill I went, around a corner I turned, and just as I was wondering if I'd taken a wrong turn, I saw it: L'Oisive Thé. This combination yarn store and tea room was opened five years ago by Aimee, an American expat who was tired of stuffing her suitcases with indie-dyed yarns every time she visited her parents back in Kansas.
