Knitter's Review
January 17, 2013
Qiviut and silk forming a simple lace cowl

With the Northeast blanketed in a fresh coat of snow, and folks elsewhere facing grey skies and rain, it's a perfect time to hunker down indoors with a good book.

I'd like to talk to you about three great titles that are varied in size and scope, but all brimming with inspiration.

Coming Up
The next two weekends bode well for knitters on the East Coast. First Vogue Knitting Live kicks off this Friday through Sunday in New York City at the Marriott Marquis just off Times Square. Then, from January 25 to the 27th, the historic Slater Mill in Rhode Island hosts its fifth-annual Knitting Weekend, with workshops and a marketplace in the museum.

In the Forums: Loopy
Ceil has been struggling with patterns that tell her to knit through the back of the loop, or purl through the back of the loop. We've begun talking about how to do this, and, perhaps more to the point, why patterns may tell us to do it. Join the discussion.

As ever, I thank you for letting me be a part of your knitting life.

I'll talk to you again on January 30th!
