Knitter's Review
November 1, 2012
A leaf on my Icelandic travel blankie

Sandy certainly was a whopper of a storm. Many of you were directly in its path, and I dearly hope this finds you safe and warm now. My thoughts are with you.

The storm brought talk about preparedness, even knitterly preparedness. Some of you made sure you had several no-brainer projects ready to go. Others went stash diving for a special "comfort" yarn, or checked the printer to make sure there was enough toner to print pattern downloads.

For me, it was all about one thing: my Stitch Light. When the the lights went off and I realized my kerosene lamp just wasn't going to cut it, this bright little gadget kept my knitting and my nerves steady.

This weekend
West Coast knitters are descending upon the San Francisco Bay Area this weekend as Interweave Knitting Lab takes place in San Mateo. Meanwhile, the Fiber Festival of New England takes over the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts. And in Hopkins, Minnesota, the Upper Midwest Fiber Festival happens on Saturday from 9am to 4pm at the Eisenhower Community Center. Check our calendar for more information and to find a gathering near you.

In the Forums: Blocking Yowzas
Ceil has finally discovered the merits of washing and blocking her swatches.

As always, I thank you for your readership and your support.

Talk to you next week!
