Knitter's Review
April 26, 2012
Annabelle and some Cormo

Did you know that in the week of April 15th, half the books on the Wall Street Journal's best-selling fiction list were children's books?

Also popular is yarnstorming, or yarn bombing, where knitting becomes a sort of public graffiti—albeit a soft and colorful kind.

This week we celebrate the convergence of these two trends in a lovely children's book called Extra Yarn. You'll want to give a copy to everyone you know, knitters and non-knitters alike.

This Weekend in Minnesota
I'm headed to the Twin Cities for the 26th annual Minnesota Knitters' Guild Yarnover, a day-long knitting bash on Saturday, April 28th, at the Hopkins Senior High School in Minnetonka. Teachers include Beth Brown Reinsel, Nancy Bush, Anne Hanson, Sivia Harding, Amy Singer, Mary Scott Huff, and yours truly. Many area vendors will also be on hand throughout the day.

In the Forums: Shrinking Swatches?
Treadwater has a question about swatching: When you knit a gauge swatch, do you go by what the swatch says, or do you wash and block it in order to take any potential shrinkage into account?
