Knitter's Review
July 7, 2011
blocking on the roll

It's too hot to swatch. I'm thinking instead of a cooler pursuit that still brings tactile pleasure and a speedy sense of gratification: blocking.

Blocking is the final act that turns knitted stitches into beautiful, cohesive fabric. This week we consider some blocking essentials, revisiting a few old favorites and putting The BagSmith's new Block n Roll to the test.

This Weekend in Colorado
Head to Monte Vista for the fifth annual SLV Folk Arts and Fiber Festival, which takes place July 8-10 in Marsh Park. Each day begins with a pancake breakfast from the Girl Scouts of Colorado, followed by workshops, vendors, swaps and contests.

In the Forum: Breaking Promises
Henya is stuck in a knitting black hole. She's slogging through several large projects that are bringing her down, and she desperately wants to start something new. The problem? She made a very public promise on her blog that she wouldn't do so. What to do?
