Knitter's Review
June 9, 2011
Kozmos on a lamp

How do we know a sweater will fit and look good without trying it on first? That's the biggest challenge in knitting. We can't try anything on until we've made it.

This week I look at two new books that approach the concept of sweaters that fit and flatter from two completely different angles. One does so through patient teaching about yarns, swatching, measuring, and modifying. The other relies on one singularly extraordinary pattern to do all the fitting. KR Retreat Details and Registration
Sound the trumpets! Details and registration information for the Knitter's Review Retreat are now online. This year we celebrate our 10th gathering, and we are happy to be joined by special guests Cookie A., Cat Bordhi, Ann Budd, and Anne Hanson.

Registration takes place Wednesday, June 15th at 12 noon Eastern Daylight Time. Spaces tend to fill in a matter of minutes, so if you think you'd like to come, please take a minute now to familiarize yourself with the class offerings. I hope to see you this fall!

Crazy for EZ Haiku
I received more than 200 haiku submissions about Elizabeth Zimmermann and her work, each of which was splendidly insightful in its own way. Congratulations to Nell Ziroli, who received a copy of Knit One Knit All for her haiku:

     Humble garter stitch
     became the work of genius
     each time she knit you.

I've posted 26 others that you may enjoy. Thanks to everybody for playing along!
