If you were in midtown Manhattan last weekend, did you notice a lot of people sporting handknits? They weren't just trying to keep warm.

They were taking part in Vogue Knitting Live, the magazine's foray into the knitting conference world. The event took place at the Hilton New York and drew an estimated crowd of more than 3,000 people.

I was there to teach, talk, sign books, and take notes for you. Here's my report.

Honoring Scottish Textile Traditions
Anyone within traveling distance of Glasgow will want to check out The Inventors of Tradition. An insightful and subjective study of the Scottish textile industry since the 1930s, this event is part exhibition, part film screening, and part publication. It features sample garments, archival materials, and a series of short documentary films, and it runs through February 26.

In the Forum: Felt-Friendly Front Loaders?
Sharon is ready to embark upon her first felting project. She has knit her first swatches, she has a zippered pillowcase, woolwash, and a timer. But she also has a front-loading washing machine. Is it possible to felt with a front-loader?
