Knitter's Review
April 22, 2010
Green yarn and mint chocolate

Cascade 220 is arguably one of the most popular yarns on the market. This simple, worsted-weight Peruvian wool comes in a bajillion colors, felts beautifully, and costs a mere $7 per 220-yard skein.

No wonder the editors of Sixth & Spring Books created an entire book around Cascade 220. Called 60 Quick Knits, it features (you guessed it) 60 quick-knitting projects in this perennially popular yarn.

Swine Skeins?
Did you know that a breed of pig exists that grows a curly coat? And this is no April Fool's joke. Emma Thompson even brought one to the London premiere of her Nanny McPhee sequel. It's called a Mangalitza pig, and it is nearly extinct. The Daily Mail has the full story.

This Weekend in Philadelphia
Please join me at Loop in Philadelphia this Friday night from 5-7pm for a reception and book signing. On Saturday from 10am-1pm I'll be teaching all about the wonders of wool. Come by and say hello!

In the Forum: Knitting and Airbags
On NPR's Car Talk this weekend, a knitter called in to ask about the likelihood of injury while knitting in the passenger seat of a car. What do you think? (If you missed the show, there's a link to it in the thread.)
