Knitter's Review
January 14, 2010
the New Product Showcase area outside the trade show floor

I'm back from TNNA, the semiannual gathering of yarn store owners, designers, yarn companies, tool makers, publishers, distributors, and pretty much everyone else who helps make our knitting world go round. I met some fantastic people, reconnected with old friends, and fondled a dizzying amount of yarn. Here are my highlights from the show.

Planning Ahead: March in Vermont
If you're feeling a little stir crazy—physically, creatively, or both—consider reserving a spot in Tara Jon Manning's Mindful Knitting Spring Retreat, which takes place March 11-14 at the Highland Lodge in Greensboro, Vermont. The agenda explores potential parallels between knitting and meditation, with technique workshop sessions as well as yoga and guided hikes—not to mention daily afternoon tea.

In the Forum: Smooth Sleeves
Finishing is both an art and a science. We may have mattress stitch figured out, but what about the more awkward things like set-in sleeves? This week we're discussing the fine nuances of finishing, sharing tips and links to our favorite tutorials.
