Knitter's Review
September 3, 2009
happy fibers

Nine years ago this week, I sent out the very first edition of Knitter's Review.

I had a day job and no big plans beyond writing about what I loved (yarn) and, I hoped, connecting with other knitters who loved yarn too.

Today—one day job, two books, eight retreats, 468 weeks, hundreds of swatches, thousands of cups of tea, and more than 30,000 subscribers later—I face the baffling notion of pulling Knitter's Review into its 10th year. For me, the journey is about putting one needle in front of the other, always seeking out the new and unusual, the notable and worthy.

I'll begin with a lovely new yarn from Rowan. Its construction says "novelty," while its natural fibers and rustic feel say "classic." Meet Lima.

And, as always, thank you for joining me on this journey.

This Weekend in Missouri
Head out to the tiny town of Bethel for the World Sheep and Fiber Arts Festival, now celebrating its 29th year. The event offers all the traditional festival fixings, from sheep shearing and sheepdog demonstrations to sheep-to-shawl competitions, a silent auction, workshops, vendors, and the coronation of a Sheep Festival Queen.

In the Forum: Quick, Special Shawls
Ann is looking for some needle advice. Specifically, she wants to know what your favorite needle is for lace knitting with fingering weight yarns.
