Knitter's Review
June 26, 2008
silk and a lime

People stand in line for hours to get a skein of Socks That Rock at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. This magic yarn is a tighly plied superwash Merino in strikingly vivid colors with names like Backstabber, Count Cluckula, and Walking on the Wild Tide.

But did you know that socks are just a part of what Tina Newton, the spirit behind Socks That Rock and Blue Moon Fiber Arts, does with dye? This week I show you Luscious Single Silk, a plush Merino/silk blend that gives the likes of Manos and Malabrigo a run for their money.

This Weekend in Alberta
Ditch the heat and head north to Old's College in Alberta, Canada, for Fibre Week. An incredible line-up of activities includes fleece shows and sales, a fashion show, and classes in knitting, spinning, dyeing, needlefelting, tapestry-weaving, and even wool judging.
