Knitter's Review
February 7, 2008
granny smith and a bison blend

Last week we met Ron and Cecil Miskin, our "buffalo guys" who turn bison down into yarn. Well, this week I present a buffalo gal, none other than Judith MacKenzie McCuin. In addition to teaching classes and writing books and working on other yarns, the much-revered fiber artist is now producing her very own artisanal blend of bison and Merino—and I have two skeins to show you.

A Heckuva Heifer Haul
I've finally tallied all the contributions to our year-end Heifer International fundraiser. Together, the Knitter's Review community has raised $3,750 for this wonderful organization. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

In the Forum: Creating Cables
Do you use a cable needle when turning cables, or do you tend to turn your cables without a needle? And if so, which technique do you use? And did you even know there was more than one technique? Join our cable chat.

This Weekend in Pittsburgh
If you're anywhere near Pittsburgh this weekend and have a hankering to be around knitters, head to the Crowne Plaza Hotel for the fourth-annual Pittsburgh Knit and Crochet Festival. It takes place February 9 and 10 and includes more than 40 classes and a marketplace with 34 exhibitors.

As always, thank you for your readership and your support.

Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the Forums!
