silk on a swift

It's almost too good to be true.

Picture a 200-year-old Swiss mill that's powered entirely by mountain streams. From this mill comes the purest, most ethereal cashmere/silk yarn imaginable. It is boxed and shipped across the ocean to Nova Scotia where a group of maidens lovingly dye each skein by hand.

All we need are singing birds and we'd have ourselves a movie, right?

Except that every word is true, even the maidens. This week, allow me to introduce Swiss Mountain Silk from Hand Maiden.

What Fiber Are You?
In support of my book, Potter Craft has put together a fun little quiz to help you determine which fiber you are. Are you angora? Or perhaps an oddball? Take the quiz to find out.

In the Forum: Determining Yardage Used
Suzanne is planning to recycle yarn from an "ugh" project and would like to estimate the yardage used so she can write up a pattern. Can she just weigh the garment on her kitchen scale?

I'm headed to sunny California this weekend for the industry trade show, TNNA. Next week I'll give you a full report on what I saw and heard, and what you can expect at your LYS this summer.

As always, thank you for your readership and your support.

Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!
