Knitter's Review
May 10, 2007

Stansborough Grey and two fresh cherries

I may be one of the few people qualified to give an unbiased review of this week's yarn, because I'm one of the few people left on the planet who hasn't seen The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

What do three phenomenally successful films have to do with yarn, you ask? The same New Zealand farming couple that produced the cloak fabrics in the film has recently begun offering those very same fibers in a handknitting yarn. And I have a skein!

In the Forums: Why We Buy?
A relatively new forum member is grappling with the fact that she only buys yarns she needs for specific projects, while all around her she sees people buying all sorts of yarn, at any time, without any idea what they're going to do with it. How and why do you tend to acquire yarn?

This Weekend
Anyone who attended last year's New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Festival may recall the torrential rains that turned the fairgrounds into a temporary Venice, complete with canals and bridges. This weekend the festival returns to the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Contoocook, New Hampshire, and I'm happy to report that the forecast is calling for sunshine and warm temperatures. I'll see you there!

As always, thank you for your readership and your support. Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!
