As knitters, we instinctively understand the allure of the handmade. But we don't always get to use tools that represent this same allure because they tend to be mass-produced in some anonymous, faraway factory.

But not this week. Allow me to present Sam Bolton. While his wife tends to her Montana yarn store, Sam turns wooden knitting needles on an antique lathe in his workshop. After a year of tweaking and testing, his needles are ready for prime time.
