Knitter's Review
August 18, 2005

tomatillo and handspun August is the perfect month to take stock of your yarn stash, get rid of what you don't need, and figure out what to do with the yarn you've kept.

But if you're like me, your stash is overrun with half-used skeins that have long lost their labels. How do you know how much yarn is there, and what its ideal gauge and needle size are?

Starting this week I'll give you answers in a series of articles about figuring out the yardage in your extra skeins so you can put them to good use.

In the Boutique: Lovely Limoges
Offered as collectibles in the boutique, our Limoges handpainted porcelain boxes would be a lovely addition to your knitting corner. Each box is handpainted and signed by the artist in Limoges, France. This week, I've put the sheep, spinning wheel, and "Three Little Kittens" boxes on sale. They're available while supplies last, and when they're gone, they're gone.

In the Forums: Color Inspiration?
Do you have any tips for picking colors that work well together in a project?

For those who feared their in-box was playing tricks on them last week, fear not. There was no newsletter. I took the week off to focus on some pressing Knitter's Review issues that always come to a head during the first part of August. It's good to be back!

As always, I thank you for your readership and support. Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums,
