Knitter's Review
January 9, 2003

handspun and a tiny pine coneKnitting can be the antidote for an increasingly homogenous, chain store-based world.

And yet even the knitting world has its nationally distributed, easily identifiable yarns and patterns. Unless you spin your own yarn, knitting something truly unique can still be a bit of a challenge.

New This Week
Kyoto blends the cuddly and the elegant into a truly beautiful fabric. But why does only one store carry it? Learn the answer.

Calendars on Sale
I've gotten several emails from readers asking if our Year in Yarn calendar is still available. The answer is yes -- and they're on sale! So get yours today if you haven't already, or pick up an extra for a friend.

Fundraiser Update
I'm still doing the final tallying of our Heifer Project fundraiser, but it looks like they'll receive donations of almost $1,000 on behalf of Knitter's Review. I'll have final numbers next week, so stay tuned!

January Treat
Everybody deserves a little pampering at this time of year, right? That's why at the end of this month I'll pick one lucky newsletter subscriber to win a $50 gift certificate to Bliss, a New York spa that also offers wonderful goodies through its online store.

As always, thank you for your readership. Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!
