Knitter's Review
September 27, 2002

spotlight on yarnChange is constant, even in the seemingly tradition-based knitting world.

As our newfound trendy status reaches its peak, book publishers continue to provide hip, flashy new titles to woo even more into our fold. And yet, as we learn this week, there's still plenty of room for us all.

New This Week
I've found two new books that serve both ends of the knitting spectrum, newcomers and veterans alike. The first, the Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits, is intended for "nouveau" knitters seeking quick trendy fashions.

The second, the Twisted Sisters Sock Workbook, bypasses trendiness in favor of a marvelous creative journey from blank unspun fiber to spectacular one-of-a-kind socks.

Calendar Goes Global
Only a few hours after opening up orders for our 2003 Year in Yarn calendar, I had shipments destined for Hawaii, Alaska, Australia, the U.K., and many more places in between. I know I'm biased, but I'd love to see one in every knitter's home so we can watch the seasons unfold together.

Final Week for Guaranteed Reservations
Almost three dozen knitters will be gathering in November for our very first Knitter's Review retreat in Virginia.

Now's the time to act, because we must relinquish any unreserved rooms at the end of next week, at which point reservations are no longer guaranteed. Learn how you can join us.
