Knitter's Review
August 29, 2002

a sea urchin atop a ball of yarnWhat a week! On Saturday, we unveiled the Knitter's Review Boutique and a redesigned Knitter's Review.

The boutique carries beautiful knitting-themed stationery, gift items, and a few whimsical extras. Each purchase helps defray the costs of publishing Knitter's Review every week free of charge. Plus, we love to include a special treat with each order.

Within Knitter's Review, you'll find many more ways to access our articles. How-tos and polls have their own pages now. In the yarn area you can search for reviews by yarn name, brand, and gauge.

Our bookstore section now lists book reviews by author or title, and it also includes a regularly updated list of the latest, greatest books to hit the shelves. And finally, we've overhauled the tools section with easier-to-understand categories you can navigate in the left column.

New This Week
Over the past few weeks we explored some of the most common yarn-handling tools, including niddy noddies, umbrella swifts, and ball winders. But many knitters still prefer to wind yarn by hand. This week we explore the relaxation and satisfaction that only come from "winding your own."

What is the infamous five-hour baby sweater, and where can I find the pattern?

August Winner
Congratulations to Donna Lundberg, winner of this month's subscriber prize - a 1.5-pound box of Scharffen Berger chocolate. Stay tuned for another great prize next month!

Treat Yourself to a Retreat
The very first Knitter's Review Weekend Retreat is this November. We still have room if you'd like to join the 25 knitters who have already registered. Learn more about the weekend and how you can be a part of it.

Happy knitting, and I'll chat with you in the forums.

Sincerely,
