Needle Profile:
Addi Turbo Circular Needles

Addi Turbo circular needles Addi Turbo circular needles

Manufacturer

Skacel

Material

Nickel-plated brass

Notes

The Cadillac of circular "speed" needles, Addi Turbos are made of nickel-plated brass with a long taper and moderately blunt tip.

The gold-colored cord is softer and more pliable than other cords, with an almost rubberlike flexibility and snagless connection to the needle.

Managing stitches on these needles can be tricky for the beginner because they are so slippery.

"Just a note on the Addi Turbo Circular needles, they are by far the best circular needles that I have ever used. The are fast and with the no snag connection, it makes knitting smaller items such as hats, socks in the round and mittens in the round much more enjoyable. And I seem to finish an item in less time! I purchased one set in size 3 and loved them so much, I have now purchased ALL of the sets in 16, 24, and 32 inch lengths!" chucksrib, 12/27/2001

"I just got back into knitting. After using the Addi Turbos for my first project, I won't use anything else. No matter what yarn they work smoothly and quickly." kfath, 10/15/2001

"I started off using addi turbos on my second knitting project - a bulky sweater. I had never used circulars before, and these were an instant fave. While the slipperiness was a little scary at first, I got used to them quickly. Accordingly, I don't necessarily think that beginners should avoid them, but they should definitely practice with them before starting their project." jandewitt, 8/17/2001

"Just wanted to say thanks for the info on circular needles. I just purchased a size 11 circular Addi Turbo needle. Wow, you are right! This needle has me flying through the stitches. The only drawback I've found is the cord is quite thick and I'm having to push the yarn down on the right side which becomes annoying. So what's worse, the pushing up of stitches on the left side or having to push the stitches down on the right side? So altho I'm able to fly with the stitches I'm also spending time pushing. I assume the thickness of the cord varies w/the size of the needle and even tho this is a US 11 I don't think the cord needs to be quite this thick. I wasn't able to see any other of the Turbo's as I called a yarn shop quite far from me and had the needles mailed out." cjordan, 4/24/2001
