A close-up of the Ton of Wool Aran-weight Cormo

If a ton of wool seems like a lot, that's because it is. One ton is the minimum amount of raw wool fleece that Australian wool scourers will accept. Any less than that, you'll have to send it to China.

Enterprising Australian hand-dyer Kylie Gusset was determined to make a purely local yarn, so she launched her Ton of Wool project.

But I haven't told you the best part about Ton of Wool: Kylie sources her fibers from the very farm in Tasmania where the Cormo breed originated.

Shall we swatch?

Coming Up
This weekend is chock full of festivals across the country and around the world, from Idaho to Pennsylvania, from West Cork, Ireland, to Devon, England. You'll find all the details in our extensive online calendar of events.

In the Forums: Taking Gauge with Lace
When the yarn label gives you gauge and recommended needle size in stockinette, but you want to knit lace, is there a way to tell what needle size would be best?

Need help logging into the Forums?

As always, I thank you for letting me be a part of your knitting life.

We'll talk again in two weeks!
