"Does it pill?"

That seems to be the default question we ask whenever we meet a new yarn. We forget that nearly any yarn, with a vigorous-enough flogging, is going to pill. The softer it is, the sooner the pilling begins.

Since pilling is a fact of life, let's look at a new gadget that claims to eradicate them from our sweaters. Does the Lilly Brush really do the trick?

Helping Oklahoma Be OK
After multiple tornadoes ripped through the state, Oklahoma is in need of a little help. Holly Barcelo and Lars Rains, the team behind Subway Knits, have compiled a lovely e-book, k*tog: Oklahoma Tornado Relief. It features 20 knitwear designs by many talented designers. The book is $20, and all of the profits—that's 100%—go directly to Other Options Inc., an Oklahoma City charity that is providing vital services to those who need them the most.

The next two weekends are chock full of events around the country, starting this weekend with Squam Art Workshop Retreat in Holderness, New Hampshire, followed by the Texas Folklife Featival in San Antonio, Estes Park Wool Market in Colorado, and the Iowa Sheep and Wool Festival in Adel. Next weekend the fun continues with Big Sky Fiber Arts Festival in Hamilton, MT, and the Sheep is Life celebration on the Navajo Nation's Tsailé Campus.
