Knitter's Review
June 10, 2010
10 toes up

There are as many ways to knit socks as there are people to wear them. Still, a few common construction techniques prevail. We can knit socks from the top down, and we can knit them from the toe up. Each technique has its advocates.

Wendy Johnson, Melissa Morgan-Oakes, and Chrissy Gardiner are all leaders in the toe-up sock world. This week I look at the most recent books from all three.

This Weekend in Colorado
Traveling anywhere near the Colorado Rockies this weekend? You'll definitely want to head over to Estes Park for the Estes Park Wool Market, now celebrating its 20th year. Exhibits, demonstrations, competitions, and a marketplace will be at the Stanley Park Fairgrounds on Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 9am to 4pm.

As for me, I'm headed to Columbus this weekend for The National NeedleArts Association's semiannual fiberarts industry trade show. I'll have a full report on the new and noteworthy when I return.

In the Forum: New Tricks?
Minh has just discovered an enchanting way to bind off stitches that is both stretchy and quick. What have you learned recently?
