Knitter's Review
July 23, 2009
a swatch in sunlight

What do you knit for someone truly special? If you can, you save your pennies and splurge on a glorious yarn, taking your time to knit a truly special gift from it.

But what kind of glorious yarn might that be? This week I show you one contender called Lux #12, which comes to us from Buffalo Gold and the Lorna's Laces dyepots. Its fiber contents read like a Julia Child recipe, blending just the right proportions of American bison, cashmere, silk, and Tencel. Shall we swatch?

This Friday: Retreat Registration Begins
Just a reminder that registration for the 8th annual Knitter's Review Retreat begins Friday, July 24th, at 12 noon Eastern Daylight Time. Full details are now available. Join us!

Reclaim the Chair
Do you have any of those ubiquitous white or green plastic chairs languishing on your porch or deck? Consider joining knitter Yuvinia Yuhadi in her crusade to cover these chairs with knitted cozies.

This Weekend in Michigan
Head over to Castle Farms in Charlevoix this weekend for the Castle Farms Fiber Festival. In addition to a marketplace with 50+ area vendors, you'll have demonstrations on spinning, weaving, natural dyeing, and felting, plus a fashion show and sheep shearing demonstrations.

In the Forum: Territorial Knitting
Do you feel it presumptuous to knit for another knitter's family? Are you somewhat taken aback when someone else knits for your family? How territorial are you about your knitting, anyway?

Need help logging into the Forums?

As always, I thank you for your readership and your support.

Have a great two weeks, and I'll see you again on August 6th!
