Knitter's Review
March 5, 2009
mystery yarn in snow

I have been waiting for Cookie A's sock book for a long, long time—in fact, ever since I first spotted her phenomenally popular Pomatomus and Monkey patterns in Knitty. Her designs combine ingenuity and grace in a way that makes me want to drop everything and cast on immediately.

Which would explain why, when I finally received an advanced copy of Cookie's book, I dropped everything and began this week's review.

This Weekend in Virginia
I hear that the temperatures in Virginia Beach are set to hit the high 60s this weekend—perfect weather for KnittaPalooza 2009. The event takes place at the Doubletree Hotel and includes workshops throughout the entire weekend. Learn new knitting techniques from teachers Margaret Radcliffe, Maggie Jackson, Susan Moraca, Joan Schrouder, and Natalie Wilson.

In the Forum: Club Caution?
Minh brought up a good question this week. She's curious whether or not the recession has affected knitting clubs in which you receive "surprise" yarn on a regular basis. Has the recession reduced your knitting budget? And if so, do you prefer to buy something you know you'll like in advance, or are you still open to yarn clubs that send you surprises?
