January 15, 2009 We're always on the lookout for the new and unusual when we travel. So was Nancy Bush when she first ventured to Estonia in 1995, picking up several handknitted lace shawls as gifts for her mother. The more she studied those shawls, the more intrigued she became. After a decade of research, Nancy Bush has assembled a comprehensive tribute to these shawls in her book, Knitted Lace of Estonia—which I review this week.
