Knitter's Review
November 6, 2008
the many strands of life

The people have spoken, the polls have closed, and the elections are over. In all these years I've only seen two things threaten the connection among knitters: religion and politics. (And acrylic.)

Which is why I thought this would be a fitting week for some knitterly reconciliation. I went through the results of more than 400 Knitter's Review polls to highlight the common threads that connect us as knitters.

This Weekend
Knitters will take over the Baltimore Convention Center this weekend for Stitches East, which runs through Sunday. Be sure to check out the schedule of classes that still have openings: I see that Karen Alfke, JC Briar, Beth Brown-Reinsel, Christine Bylsma, Fiona Ellis, Sandi Rosner, and Candace Eisner Strick—among others—still have a few spots left in their workshops.

Meanwhile I'll be at WEBS in Northampton, Massachusetts, teaching folks all about yarn and signing copies of my book. Please stop by on Saturday from 4:30 to 6pm for the reception.

In the Forum: Mixing Colors
MaryBeth wants to knit a Forest Canopy Shawl. She has enough beautiful Koigu yarn for the project, but only if she combines a solid and variegated color. Her question: How can she best blend the two colors in the same project?
