Knitter's Review
May 15, 2008
silk and flowers

Last week's newsletter prompted a heartfelt discussion about the knitting community's unspoken code of ethics—"thou shalt not steal" being one.

I started thinking about community and how our behavior defines it. And then I remembered Larissa and Martin John Brown's new book, Knitalong. It celebrates our age-old quest for connectedness through stitches. Here's what I found inside.

This Weekend in Idaho
The Snake River Fiber Fair takes place at the Eastern Idaho Technical College in Idaho Falls. In addition to classes, there's a marketplace with many artisan yarn and fiber suppliers you may not find elsewhere. (And if you can't attend in person, you can still follow the links on the vendor page, which is located right off the festival homepage.)

In the Forum: Costly Socks
Looking at sock yarns online, one Forum member was astonished to see that to knit a pair of socks could cost up to $20. Join us for a discussion of our favorite sources for inexpensive sock yarns and our favorite justifications for the occasional splurge.
