Knitter's Review
September 13, 2007
gorgeous organic yarn with a baby acorn

You know it's a long-term relationship when you forget your anniversary. Seven years ago last week I sent the very first issue of Knitter's Review to a handful of readers. I had no grand scheme or polished business plan, I just knew I had something to say about yarn and hoped people would be interested in reading it.

Today, as we enter our eighth year together, you are in the company of almost 35,000 other subscribers and more than 770,000 visitors to our Web site every month. And just one month from now, my very own book about yarn will be published by Potter Craft. I couldn't have imagined this, yet here we are—and I have lots more ideas and directions for the next eight years of our journey together. I thank you for being a part of it.

This Week's Review: A Splendid Spin
Would Green Mountain Spinnery's New Mexico Organic yarn be just as special if I hadn't seen the shepherds herding the flock through the Carson National Forest one bright October day two years ago? Let's find out.

This Weekend
If you thought last week was busy with fiber festivals, this weekend is even busier. In Hemlock, New York, we have the Finger Lakes Fiber Arts Festival. In Yellow Springs, Ohio, A Wool Gathering will take place at Young's Jersey Dairy. In Ringoes, New Jersey, the Garden State Sheep and Fiber Festival will occur at the Hunterdon County Fairgrounds. And in Watertown, South Dakota, don't miss the North Country Fiber Fair. Links to these events and more can be found on our upcoming events page.

In the Forums: Fall Frenzy?
Many of you are feeling a tinge of "startitis" as fall arrives. One reader has cast on four projects so far this month. How about you?
