Knitter's Review
February 23, 2006

handspun mohair clouds on the bobbin Last weekend the Doubletree Hotel in Portland, Maine, was overrun with knitters and spinners for the fourth-annual Spa Knit and Spin.

No matter where I looked, there were spinning wheels. Groups were set up in the lobby, the lounge, the restaurant, the meeting rooms, and even in the hallways. Those who didn't know how to spin inevitably pointed to a friend and said, "She's promised to teach me tomorrow!"

The timing is perfect because, according to the 2006 Year in Yarn calendar, this Saturday is Learn to Spin day. Who better to teach us about spinning than the folks at Spin-Off magazine? Join me this week for a hands-on look at how to spin with a spinning wheel.

(We'll return to the third part of our silk series next week!)
