Knitter's Review
September 30, 2004

a gift from GreeceDon't you love it when a yarn surprises you?

When I first saw this week's yarn, I assumed it was brushed mohair or even an angora blend. But when I looked at the label, I discovered that it was actually a brushed alpaca from Peru.

The name is Baby Alpaca Brush, and I review it this week.

In the Boutique: Calendarama
Last week I unveiled the 2005 Knitter's Review Year in Yarn calendar, and your response was overwhelming! If you haven't checked it out yet, I encourage you to do so this week. The images and text are mine, and all proceeds help bring Knitter's Review to you every week free of charge.

Fall Retreat Update
The third-annual Knitter's Review Retreat will take place November 5-7 in Syria, Virginia. I'm excited to announce that Barbara Gentry of Stony Mountain Fibers will be giving a needle felting demonstration on Saturday evening! Sign up for the Saturday portion of the retreat or place yourself on the waiting list for the full weekend here.

In the Forums: Safe Silk?
Is there such a thing as a no-kill silk fiber, where the silkworms haven't been killed during processing?
